AI visibility monitoring across China and global platforms: two battlefields, one measurement basis

Why no single tool samples both Chinese AI assistants (Doubao, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qwen, Yuanbao) and global ones (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Copilot, Claude) through their web interfaces, how to run the two as separate projects, and how to align their measurement basis so the numbers can sit in one report.

A Chinese manufacturer selling at home and abroad faces two different answer engines. Domestic customers ask Doubao, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qwen or Tencent Yuanbao; overseas buyers ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot or Claude. The platforms differ in language, retrieval sources, account requirements and the regions they can be sampled from. As of September 2026 we know of no tool that samples both families through their web interfaces under one subscription. This guide is about running the two as separate projects without ending up with two incomparable reports.

Why one tool rarely covers both

  • Accounts and phone numbers: several Chinese assistants require a mainland phone number; several global ones are geo-blocked from mainland IPs.
  • Compliance: sampling Chinese platforms from China and global platforms from abroad are different operational and legal setups.
  • Retrieval: the two families cite almost disjoint sets of pages, so the content work that follows is also disjoint.
  • Enterprise tiers of some global tools list DeepSeek or Qwen via API. API answers are useful but are not what a Doubao app user sees.

Run two projects, align the basis

Buy the domestic and the overseas monitoring separately if needed, but write one measurement basis for both before either starts. The basis is the set of definitions that make a mention rate on Doubao and a mention rate on ChatGPT mean the same thing.

  1. Prompt map: the same buyer journey stages (discovery, shortlisting, verification, comparison) on both sides, written natively in each language, not translated word for word.
  2. Prompt count and structure: for example 44 unbranded and 6 branded prompts per platform on both sides.
  3. Cadence and runs: the same interval and the same runs per prompt, so a month yields the same number of points.
  4. Status vocabulary: answer, refusal, not triggered, failed, blocked, defined identically, with failures excluded from denominators on both sides.
  5. Evidence: answer text, screenshot, cited URLs, time, region and language per run on both sides.
  6. Reporting: one page per platform family, the same metric definitions, and a single change log of what you changed on your site and when.

How Miaowa GEO fits

Miaowa GEO covers the global family only: six platforms, sampled in controlled browser environments from outside China, every 72 hours, 50 prompts per platform, with per-task screenshots. For the domestic family we point clients to a domestic tool and help them align the basis above; we do not resell or white-label domestic monitoring. Our comparison pages with domestic vendors are at /compare (in Chinese).

What to do with two reports

  • Fix entity facts once, in both languages: company name, legal entity, capacity, certifications, product names. Assistants on both sides verify entities before recommending.
  • Treat citations as the action list: the domestic report tells you which Chinese portals and communities to earn coverage on; the overseas report tells you which English pages and directories matter.
  • Do not compare the absolute rates across families. Compare each family with itself over time.
Can I just translate my Chinese prompts into English?
You can, but overseas buyers phrase supplier questions differently (certifications, MOQ, lead time, application fit). Write the overseas prompt map natively and keep the journey stages aligned.
Is Google AI Overviews a Chinese or a global platform?
Global. It is sampled from the target market's Google, in the target language. Baidu's AI search is the domestic counterpart.
Which family should an exporter start with?
The one where the buyer is. An exporter with no domestic sales can skip the domestic family entirely.
